Art Club and Artist Trading Cards

Fall Art Club has begun and we are starting off by creating Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). ATCs are miniature pieces of art that you can trade with other artists. When I say miniature, the actual size is 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. They can be any medium of art and anything you want them to be!

In November we will be mailing our ATCs to an ATC swap coordinator in Minnesota. She has over 100 different schools participating from around the world. We will trade our cards in for cards from those students! The Art Club kids are super excited!

Here are a few great ATCs created yesterday. We are still working on how to use a ruler and make sure we are measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches. :)

I told the artists that they can create these at home too! All you need is some thick paper (80# or more) and your imagination... and a ruler too! I want to mail off at least 100, which means if every student can make at least 5 cards for trading, we should meet that goal!

How Can We Save the Planet? With Creativity!

Artist Cath Love, "I'm not a scientist, I can't tell you if this would leave a dent in the state of our environment. But this concept -- to make use of what we already have in the air, instead of extracting it from new materials -- really is a positive approach to creating sustainable art."

How to Look at Public Art

I love this video! It does a great job explaining how to look at art. You could ask some of these same questions about art in a museum as well.

2015-1016 Spotlight Night

We had a very successful Spotlight Night at England Elementary. The school was covered from head to toe in awesome student artwork! It may take a lot of work, but it is always totally worth it!
