5th Grade Pearson Ranch Art Field Trip

5th grade will have the opportunity to go over to Pearson Ranch to visit the Art Department. Band, Orchestra and Choir usually visits us in the Spring, but the art teachers at Pearson Ranch wanted an opportunity to show the kids what the Art room looks like in middle school.

We will be walking over during our normally scheduled specials time and doing a small project while we are there, then heading back to Elsa England.

Permission slips have gone home and need to be returned by Friday, December 15th. If you didn't receive on in your child's take home folder, you can download the link HERE and return it.

Art Jobs: Map Makers

There are lots of different jobs in the arts, and sometimes they happen unexpectedly.

Art Jobs: Origami?

This if for all my students who LOVE the origami  center in the art room!

Art Camp with Mrs. Shock

This summer, Mrs. Shock will be hosting her first Summer Art Camps! There will be 3 sessions this summer and each session will have a different theme.

For the week of June 12th to 15th, our theme is COLOR! We will be doing some very colorful projects that may involve interesting ways of getting color onto our artwork. The week will end with tie-dying our own shirts!

For the week of June 26th to 29th, our theme is Stars & Stripes. We will be making patriotic themed art, including some hammer-and-nail string art!

For the week of July 10th to 13th, our theme is Under the Sea. All of our artwork will be ocean themed. This class will include some sculpting with baking soda clay.

All camps are for kids aged 8 to 12 years old and classes will be limited to 10 students per session. The cost per session is $125, which includes supply fees. All you need to bring is your imagination and a snack!

All the camps will be held at Mrs. Shock's house and camp will be from 9am to Noon.  If you are interested in signing up...

Calling All Dry Markers!

Crayola has a great program for recycling those old dry markers that end up in the trash! It's called ColorCycle.

Last year we shipped off a pretty big box of dry markers, and this year I hope to send an even bigger box! If you have any dry markers laying around, send them to school to recycle in the art room. They don't even have to be crayola markers, any marker will do!

ATC Swap was a Success!

In November we mailed all of our Artist Trading Cards in to Mrs. Nic Hahn in Minnesota. She then worked tirelessly to organize and distribute the trading cards back to the schools that participated. We received some really great cards from other states and countries!

I created a google map with pictures of the cards we received from each school. If you'd like to see what we got, you can see them all by clicking on the globe below!

Now the hard part is distributing the trading cards to the England students. There are quite a few that everyone is going to want :)
